Road and Rail

STATS has been providing specialist structural and geotechnical engineering, materials and environmental consultancy and allied technical services to road and rail transport owners, designers, contractors and maintenance operators for over thirty years.

In the 1970s and 1980s, we were at the forefront of bridge inspection and investigation, culminating in the Department of Transport commissioned STATS to prepare the definitive guide to concrete bridge condition assessment. This work continues, particularly in the field of post-tensioned concrete bridges.

In the 1980s and 1990s, we were one of the leading independent materials consultants providing UKAS-accredited on-site materials testing laboratories and QA inspection and NDT for many of the UK’s major highway construction projects, including major sections of the A1M, M3, M6, M20, M25, M40 and the entire M74. In the late 1990s and 2000s, we had a similar role on the high speed Channel Tunnel Rail Link (High Speed 1) including the mid-Kent, Ebbsfleet and Thames Tunnel sections.

In addition to our involvement on major new infrastructure projects, we continue to work closely with many delivery teams responsible for national railway, Underground, light rail and highway maintenance and improvement projects. With regard to facilities and asset management, our people are also heavily involved in asbestos surveying and management and in Legionella risk assessment and water hygiene in buildings, stations, depots and other public spaces and workplace environments.

STATS Limited is certified by DNV to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001 for Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety Management, accredited by CHAS and holds registrations with Constructionline, Link-up & UVDB.
