STATS has extensive experience in the execution of statutory principal and special inspections of highway and railway bridges and culverts. We have a particular expertise in the inspection of post-tensioned reinforced concrete structures.
STATS is able to provide the complete package for most types of inspections from arranging traffic management and meeting elevated and confined space access working requirements, to carrying out the necessary structural engineering analysis to interpret the results and make recommendations.

Safety Barrier Testing

Safety barriers form a vital part of most transport systems and public places, such as car parks, sports stadia and entertainment venues, where vehicles and people need effective separation, protection or restraint systems.
STATS offers a wide range of bespoke load and deformation testing services to check the actual performance of safety barriers. This can involve STATS fabricating a test rig specifically designed for the barrier in question.

Radar and Other NDT Investigations

Developments in radar and other non-destructive testing technology permit STATS to undertake many types of structural investigation without the need for potentially damaging intrusive work such as coring, or at least greatly reduce these needs.

Deleterious Materials

STATS has extensive experience in surveying, sampling and testing for the presence of potentially deleterious materials in buildings and civil engineering structures. Part of this skill is having the experience to design appropriate, cost-effective, sampling and testing strategies based on a thorough knowledge of how buildings and civil engineering structures are actually put together.

With our own UKAS accredited laboratory testing we are able to respond rapidly to report on both individual buildings and major institutional investment building portfolios.

Fixings Testing

Reliance on the use of high performance fixings is an integral part of contemporary structural design, particularly to secure items to a concrete substrate.

STATS provides a complete performance testing service for almost every type of fixing, using either our own standard test rigs or if necessary designing and making a bespoke test rig.

Concrete Repair

STATS provides a full consultancy service to property owners and asset managers in the assessment and repair of reinforced concrete structures.

Our service benefits from the in-depth knowledge accumulated by the firm of the processes involved in concrete deterioration and the potential pitfalls inherent in the various available repair systems.

Building Envelope Weatherproofness

Achieving and maintaining weatherproofness in building envelopes can be challenging, especially where unusual combinations of materials or tight construction details are required to achieve a particular architectural finish.

Pre-construction or when problems arise STATS offers a combination of specialist building surveying, engineering and materials science expertise to diagnose potential or actual faults and offer remedial design solutions.

Pre-construction we are also able to carry out a range of performance compliance tests on proposed components.

Structural Investigation Services

STATS Structures provides a wide range of support services in structural investigation, monitoring and assessment to infrastructure owners, managers and engineering consultants, and property owners and developers and their design teams.

The service is provided by a professional team of well qualified engineers, scientists and specialist technicians, many of whom have particular areas of expertise built up over many years of consultancy practice. Further strength in depth is provided by our in-house laboratory services, where we are able to bring together the production of test results and other specialist analytical and examination procedures with their interpretation by the project consultants.

STATS is also at the forefront of adopting new on-site and remote sensing survey techniques for structural investigation. These include the ability to deploy materials experts on projects requiring roped access, and using non-destructive techniques such as radar and thermal imaging.
